Join the conversation to discuss the role we can play as colleagues, family members and friends in empowering LGBTQIA+ youth in our communities.

On Friday 30 August 2024, LGBTQIA+ youth and allies will unite in record numbers to celebrate ‘Wear It Purple Day’ as thousands of schools, community organisations, universities, and workplaces prepare to celebrate nationwide.

By wearing purple, Australians demonstrate to rainbow young people that they are seen, supported and respected, acknowledging all have the right to be proud of who they are and who they are becoming.

Originally founded by students in response to global stories of teenagers taking their own lives due to bullying and harassment, Wear it Purple Day has become an international movement of celebration and support.

Lendlease will be celebrating by hosting a panel discussion morning tea on empowering LGBTQIA+ youth in the workplace and encouraging everyone to get involved by wearing something purple.

When: 10 - 11am Wednesday 28th August
Where: Tower Three International Towers

To attend please secure your ticket by visiting Humanitix.

Join us with special guests below to discuss what factors play into inhibiting and bringing to life the aspirations of young queer individuals?

From entering their career and finding their “work personality”, succeeding at work while building queer pride, having role models to be inspired by, and to the support networks and allies who are their “chosen family” at work and outside of work.

Please come along, wear something Purple and celebrate Wear It Purple Day with your colleagues and friends. Everyone is welcome!

What is Wear It Purple Day about?

Wear It Purple was founded in 2010 in response to global stories of teenagers taking their own lives due to bullying and harassment from the lack of acceptance of their sexuality or gender identity. Today we celebrate Wear It Purple Day to show young people across the globe that there is hope, that there are people that support and accept them, and that they have the right to be proud of who they are.
