BARANGAROO
HISTORY

Today, at the place we call Barangaroo, history continues to evolve with the creation of one of the most beautiful places in Australia. A place that inspires discovery of a whole new side of Sydney. A place where we are creating a whole new way of working, of playing, of living in Sydney.

1780s

Present Day

In the late 1780’s the Cameragal people, part of the Eora tribe, were the largest and most influential group in the region we now call Sydney Harbour. And one of the most formidable individuals in this group was a woman. A woman known simply as Barangaroo. Barangaroo was fisherwoman and diplomat, terrifying and nurturing, pioneer & protector.

One of the first Eora women to meet with white officers and settlers, Barangaroo survived smallpox only to lose her husband & two children. Her second husband was the ambitious cross-cultural envoy, Bennelong. Nowadays centuries on, both Bennelong and Barangaroo live on in our shared histories & harbour, from the Sydney Opera House to Darling Harbour.

THE PLACE
TO BE

Ultimate Work-Life Balance

the-place-to-be-icon

Beyond being close to public transport, people are increasingly seeking a work life balance that includes the big and little things that make coming to work a pleasure.

Things like flexible office environments that encourage creativity, spontaneity and interaction among staff, outdoor spaces for some sunshine daydreaming, a nearby barista who makes Sydney’s perfect coffee, a park where you can play touch footy, and shops that sell what you want, when you want it. These are critical factors for companies wanting to retain and attract the best and brightest staff.
