The big pink store, Peter’s of Kensington, is now in Barangaroo stocking an extensive range of homewares, kitchenware and fashion.

The year, 1977 was a momentous one for Australia and included HRH Queen Elizabeth's Silver Jubilee Goodwill tour. Swedish pop group, ABBA also arrived for a series of live concerts. Malcolm Fraser was re-elected as Prime Minister. Advance Australia Fair won a plebiscite to become the National Anthem and a modest gift store opened on Anzac Parade, Kensington which would soon become the landmark, family owned retailer, Peter’s of Kensington.

Peter's officially became known as 'the big pink store' and a Sydney institution after moving across Anzac Parade to a former cinema and soon more branches were established at Barangaroo, Birkenhead Point and Alexandria. Despite this, Peter's of Kensington remains what it always has been - a family owned and operated, Australian company.

The key to our success is our warmth, personal service and our devotion to affordable luxury, while showcasing the best of international and local brands, across the categories of homewares, dinnerware, kitchenware and fashion.

These days, people throughout Australia and the world, dive into our store online to take advantage of our incredible prices and statement pieces. And every year at Peter's brings different ways to celebrate.
